The Faux Hawk Strikes Again!!!

The hawk lands again!!! Honestly from the beginning of my seeing these faux hawks i wasn't really impressed... Especially on boys i really wasn't digging them. BUT Ive fell head over heels for them and find myself experimenting with all ways of doing them...

I'm happy to notice that as i do the hawks they get better each time!YAY So pre-product wise i used our trusty Bee Mine Botanical Shampoo and Mixed Chicks Leave-In. I had an idea of how i wanted the hawk to look so i left Diva R's hair damp as i started parting for ease and minimal tangling, i was also spritzing the Bee Mine Juicy Spritz as i went too so that moisture could be soaking in prior to being braided and parted in efforts to protect her scalp throughout and the hair near her scalp. I used Bee Mine Bee Hold Curly Butter for the hold product and this is my number 1 fav product ever!

I also kept the distilled water spritz near in case her ends start tangling or drying as i am cornrowing... Which i must say her hair is becoming more tangle prone as she grows.

So i just started parting up and out in like a half sun type pattern and chose to left her natural curlees hanging free. I had cornrowed with the thought in mind of the free hair being swept over to her right side because i love the elegant half and half look.

I did end up putting beads on the front two ends of the cornrows just didn't take pics, i changed them up every other day to coordinate with her outfits :) I honestly couldn't braid the front pieces upwards  i tried and tried and the baby hairs are so stubborn they seriously refuse to cooperate and lay a certain way no matter what i do. BUT we made it work and she loves beads so we both won with this style.
These are her natural curls!!! I get asked all the time how i curl her hair and what i use to do it and i chuckle each time because they are natural and i have to do nothing to "create" them.  Below is a picture of the back view with a hint of the CB and JS respectively.

This has become a staple style in our book! and it is the most requested style from parents for me to do on their little Diva's and Big Diva's.

New Accessories of Ours :)

Here are some new things we have purchased lately :) The first pictured is of some inspired hair that i will be unveiling the complete product with in September... So i will not detail it now but i will say that i bought them from Doctored Locks and i was so thrilled with their customer service and selections that i will return in the future to buy more stuff as they have more than just hair :) My package came in just one day!

Below are some Orthodontic Bands, i came across these and was intrigued as i have heard about these from some you tube videos and they are much smaller than rubber bands and they are much stronger as well, they aren't as cheap as rubber bands though :( But they are supposed to be healthier on the hair... so we will see as i replaced rubber bands with these.... They were $1.95 a pack.

I took a trip to my fav local beauty supply in search of hair and some other things for a special style and instead of finding those items i found a new different type of silk sleeping bonnet a kids shower cap and some hair clips for sectioning. I have had no luck finding good sectioning clips and i have bought SO MANY so hopefully these work out for us... Ive used them several times and would say that they are good clips, some of the best I've bought.

We have been blessed with new products to review also and the reviews are coming in the near future so stay tuned! Of course they are organic/natural and i have 4 on hand! Those are the only clue's i will give. :)

Father's Day Style Recap :)

So i decided to whip out the slide braids again :) and for Father's Day which was also on a Sunday this year i decided to do something ultra girly cute and to coordinate it with... Diva R loves wearing dresses she is the girly girl so she gets to wear them alot! This style was inspired by her canary yellow halter top dress.

It was quick simple and took all of 20 minutes from beginning to end. I used the Bee Mine Juicy Spritz along side the Lavish Curls Moisturizer topped off with our cherished Bee Mine Curly Butter.

The slide braids have become a cute addition to our styling regime, they are adorable and people always try and figure them out after they oogle over them :) and they are so easy even a Daddy can do them!

Diva R has some of the most healthy vibrant curls i have seen. I see alot of biracial children on a regular and almost ONE of their parents do anything to care for their children's hair and that explains the ratty-looking-ness of it :( Poor children, there is no excuse for laziness parents!

This Father's Day was a blessed one as usual, it was all about Daddy and we hung out all day long and spent time with the fam as well.

In case your wondering these lovely flowers came from Tiffany's blessed hands over at Diva Locks (Diva Do's & Everything in Between)

I LOVE easy styles! Keep in mind this blog is for everyone of every hair type, you don't have to be biracial or have biracial children because you will gain consistently from LYGBC i promise that!!!

God Bless.

Our Review

Scent: Bubble Gum/Hard to pin point but YUMMY
Texture/Consistency: Light, fluffy and creamy
Color:White
Cost: $15.00 for 8oz

I will begin by saying that we were blessed to receive samples from Cush Cosmetic's to try and review and i must send a HUGE Thank You and HUG to Toni from CC for blessing us with these!

I did try this on Diva R's freshly washed and slightly damp hair each time i tried it.  I only shampooed her hair prior too since this is a leave in and rinse out conditioner i decided to use it as a leave in each time we used it because of the amount we had to work with.  When it comes to conditioners the ones with the fine consistencies and such like this one i make sure i use it as a leave in and it seems to function best as such. I had to use a generous amount of this each time i used it so in 3 uses it was used up, mind you this was just a sample size.
Here is Diva R's results :)

I am a huge FAN of leave-in's :)

I also really liked how the conditioner didn't leave any residues or greasy feelings behind and Diva R's hair absorbed it immediately, making her hair soft, pleasantly scented and incredibly tangle free. This is a great detangler and it work's instantly! every time i used this i applied in in the morning time as this is the only time that i find detangling difficult even if she wears a cap to bed.  The manageability lasted all day in her hair and it was in its free curly form :) Out of all the Cush Products that we have and tried i like this one the BEST! Its over all a good detangler.

See what Untrained Hairmom thinks about the Uncoiled...

Our Review

Scent: Mango/Citrus/Mint
Color: White
Consistency: Light and super creamy
Cost: $16.00 for 4oz

This review i must say was conducted on my little cousin because Diva R is allergic to the almond oil, I had pre-planned what i was going to do to her hair so i used this product solely to test its abilities. Her hair was shampooed and conditioned prior too :)  I had finger detangled and wide tooth detangled then added this Moisturize Me to her hair. Her hair type is 3b and badly heat damaged, i am kind of unsure as to what her entire curl type is i will see if i can determine as i go :)

I LOVE the texture of this moisturizer! I must say that i liked it on my cousin Diva C's hair! It is really light and doesn't leave a gunky, heavy, or greasy feeling. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the scent of this it is just so great i wish there was a lotion that smelled like this. I can say that this is a decent product thus far... I had received a sample size to try out and due to the size of the sample it has only been able to be used three times... Normally i like to review a product over at least a few weeks time for more accurate results received from numerous ways of use. So under our circumstances I used it on Diva C's biracially curlee hair.  Her hair seriously drank this Leave-In and i would say that this could be a great staple product for her hair in particular. The lightness of it is refreshing and not heavy but it penetrates DEEP and has a lasting feel and sheen.

Too bad there isn't a nut free substitute i could try on Diva R.

BIG Thank you to Toni from Cush Cosmetic's for sending us these blessed samples from her product line to try!!!
